Danny Schechter The News Dissector On Paltalk




Television producer and independent filmmaker Danny Schechter who also writes and speaks about media issues will be my guest on an extended edition of News Talk Online on Paltalk tonight at 8 PM New York time to help in our coverage of the Super Tuesday primary in the United States.

Schechter is the author of four books on journalism. He is the executive editor of MediaChannel.org, the world's largest online media issues network, and recipient of the Society of Professional Journalists' 2001Award for Excellence in Documentary Journalism.

Schechter has produced and directed many TV specials and documentary films and is co-founder and executive producer of Globalvision, a New York-based television and film production company now in its 16th year. He began as the "News Dissector" at Boston's leading rock station, WBCN and was later a producer for the ABC News magazine 20/20 and was a charter employee at CNN where he was hired as a producer.

Schechter has reported from 49 countries and lectured at many schools and universities. He was an adjunct professor at the Graduate School ofJ ournalism at Columbia University. Schechter's writing has appeared inleading newspapers and magazines including the The Nation, Newsday, Boston Globe, Columbia Journalism Review, Media Studies Journal, Detroit Free Press and the Village Voice.
