Author Blames Left And Right For Lack Of Intellectual Discourse

Susan Jacoby, author of the New York Times best seller list book The Age Of American Unreason, says the talking head radio and TV shows where people shout one another down may be good for ratings. But they don't support the democratic process.

And in remarks on News Talk Online on Paltalk, she said a shortage of intellectual honesty and civility in political discourse also ill serves the public.

She cited as example politicians who deny scientific evidence of global warming. And those who accept the literal translation of the Bible, even when it contradicts science.
