Internet Users Should Use Common Sense To Avoid Scamming

Click on a link you're unfamiliar with you could find your computer infested with spyware or malware.

That's why it's important to be cautious about what links you click.

That advice comes from Yahoo! Web Life Editor Heather Cabot.

Cabot, speaking on News Talk Online on Paltalk.com says her company has teamed with McAfee to develop a system for warning people of suspicious sites when using Yahoo!'s search engine. But that, she says, doesn't help you if you're clicking on links you get from other sources. Like via e-mail.

She says one common scheme is to send an e-mail that purports to be from your bank. Then it lets you log in to see your account.

Once you "logged in" you've given the scammers your password. And they now have the keys to your bank account.
