Shifting his stance on Iran
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama came under fire from GOP opponent John McCain for expressing his willingness to talk to Iran's leaders if he becomes president of the United States.
Now, in perhaps an attempt to mitigate that criticism, Obama is now saying that he supports designating the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization.
This is in advance of his scheduled speech before a pro-Israeli group.
Obama has a perception problem among Jews that he is struggling to repair.
Still, as he does so, he should be careful to not toss is core principles into the garbage.
One (especially he who would be commander-in-chief of the U.S. armed forces) must be careful about declaring a standing army a terrorist organization. Because it opens the door for one's own army being declared one as well.

I do not know why Obama should have a perception problem among Jewish voters. What impressed me so much about Obama is that during one of the FIRST debates he gave homage to the old Black-Jewish alliance and expressed the hope that it could be rebuilt. He was very young when this alliance foundered and so could not have his own memories of it but learned that it existed and learned of the good it provided for the nation.
He also honored his friends by giving his first speech as presumptive presidential candidate at AIPAC, where he again renewed his hope that the alliance that was so effective would be renewed.
What frightens Jews about Senator Obama? Is it his name? None of us named ourselves (except on PalTalk). Is it his possible Muslim training? He states that he has never been Muslim, as if that mattered, and I take him at his word.
Surely he would not lose votes by ignoring the Jewish community. Despite the wailing of the Jew hating crowd that Jews have all the money and control the country, those of intelligence know that sheer numerics puts that fabrication to rest. So we have to draw one conclusion from his actions toward the Jewish community: they are honest and honorable and Obama is a man to be trusted.
