Despite being high wage earners, a new study by the Australian Visa Bureau concludes that many British subjects are emigrating to Oz because of what they view as a poor quality of life in the UK.
Ironic, isn't it, since Britain originally populated Australia with criminals?
Reasons cited include the lack of sunshine in England (folks from there are a bit pale I've noticed) and the fact that the industrious British find they are laboring (sorry labouring) long and tedious hours just to get ahead.
The cost of living is also given as a reason for this trend.
Australia is, obviously, a whole lot less crowded than the British Isles isn't it?
Seems like Australia is just the right paradise for beleaguered Brits mate!

If we were going to send anyone to a 'penal colony' then we would have to send all the New Labour politicians who have led us into this situation!!!
I think we make a big mistake when we equate good living and quality of life with income. Personally I wouldn't put Ireland at the bottom, the quality of life there appears to be much better ( and as a Brit I'm allowed to say this)
Like the rest of the world we are heading for a recession, with fuel costs spiralling, food costs going through the roof, taxes and more taxes, knife crime and violent crime on the increase. Let me give you an example of how Jaqui Smith, the Home Secretary intends to address the issue of the frighteninly increasing incidence of knife crime - she believes that the perpetrators could have their behaviour modified by being made to visit the victims of said crimes in hopsital. Can you imagine? I personally wonder if Jaqui Smith had been a social worker!
When Gary calls for the people listening to the show to take back control, to make sure that their elected representatives actually represent them he is NOT just talking to Americans!
