This is a message from a whiner to former U.S. Sen. Phil Gramm.
You sir, are totally out-of-touch with reality.
This really isn't your fault. It's institutional. Like the time your former colleague U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, skipped on a bill at a Queens restaurant.
These guys and gals on Capitol Hill are so used to being treated like royalty that they forget that they work in the people's house. They need to get out once in awhile and get with the people they profess to represent.
Your comments, Mr. Gramm, that the United States is in a "mental recession" really don't set well for those who are truly struggling.
Too bad for John McCain that you, his chief economic adviser, made your insensitive comments as he's campaigning in Michigan. There are a lot of people suffering from "mental recession" in the Great Lakes state. People losing their homes to foreclosure. Losing their jobs. Waiting in unemployment lines. Yep, it's all in their heads.
I'll tell you one guy who is happy with your remarks today. He's Barack Obama. The number of undecided voters who have now, thanks to you, decided to vote for Obama is probably immeasurable.
Sad to think that Obama may now be elected by a margin decided by all these mentally disturbed whiners who are just trying to make end's meet.

The arrogance of these people is amazing!
It would be bad enough if he had made these remarks after his man had won the election but to do them before the real race is started I would say it was nothing short of a suicide attempt! So maybe one should assign the epithet 'mental midget' to the descriptor of him.
Still, on the subject of inappropriate remarks by or on behalf of candidates I guess it is 1 all. Obama wasn't so wise in his comments about the people of Pennysylvania, now was he?
Whew! It certainly is a relief to be told that the tremendous drop in my active assets account and retirement fund are all in my head! I was very concerned when I opened my statements yesterday but Phil Gramm set me straight. Now all I have to do is take a pill and relax.
