Economic insecurity for some
Time for change. That's what Barack Obama says. But for many Americans, an Obama presidency will mean less change. Or green. In their pockets.
That's because Obama wants to increase the federal income tax. And those who make more than a quarter-million-dollars a year would pay more in Social Security taxes.
The New York Sun has studied Obama's tax plans. It reports that some people will give nearly 60 percent of their income to the government.
Of course, the vast majority of Americans don't make that much money. So Obama may feel comfortable proposing taxing the rich, who, he may presume, would more than likely vote Republican anyway. But where's the equity in all this?
America is a capitalistic nation. We are told from birth to put ourselves to the grindstone and we will reap rewards. Obama's plan penalizes success. To me, that seems blatantly un-American.

Isn't that a communistic stance Obama is taking?
Oh, and if you're looking for ways Obama plans to spend your dollar then look at the Global Poverty Act which he was responsible for sponsoring. This will be a proportion of the GDP ( I think around 0.06%)will go towards allieviating poverty in the 3rd world and underdeveloped nations - this is on top of what is already paid out in aid at the present time. I would say that at a time of economic slow down and threatened recesion these sorts of proposals would not have popular appeal. Maybe this is why he's not publicisingthis particular strategy he plans to promote.
Hard work is not necessarily rewarded as the vast majority of the populous can tell you. If it was a yearly salary of 250K would really represent a thriving middle class which is steadily shrinking, an illness would not mean job termination, responsible people would not be on the cusp of losing their homes.
It is time that those who benefitted from the irregularities of this society and economic system pay their fair share. We do NOT have laissez faire capitalism in this country. The rich are helped by the government and the poor are left to pick up the pieces of their lives, which probably won't be long since 47 million of us have no health insurance.
My mother used to say, "They rich get richer and the poor have babies." Pretty astute for a high school graduate.
As for the tiny fraction of a percentage Obama is proposing to help eradicate world poverty it probably isn't what we spend in one month on this terrible war.
Want to call me a communist? Sticks and stones.........
