Strained American Red Cross Prepares For Hurricane Ike

Still reeling from helping people displaced by Hurricane Gustav and Tropical Storm Hanna, the American Red Cross is preparing for the arrival, perhaps this weekend, of Hurricane Ike.

Current projections have Ike making landfall on the Texas gulf coast Saturday. It could be a category 2 or 3 hurricane when it arrives.

Joining me today to discuss how the recovery efforts are going in Louisiana and South Carolina and about preparations now in Louisiana and Texas will be Red Cross Disaster Services spokesman H.T. Linke. Linke was in Texas for Gustov and South Carolina for Hannah. He will be joining me from Louisiana today.

The Red Cross Disaster Services coffers are especially low because of the organization's earlier response to floods in the Midwest.
