What Will Homeless White Collar Workers Do?
The number of people laid off from their jobs continues to climb. Unemployment in the United States is approaching 8 percent.
Homeless shelters are already pushed to capacity.
Now we're seeing an increase of white collar workers who are losing their jobs and, in many cases, their homes.
What will they do? Go to homeless shelters and live with the very people that some of them may have once treated with disdain?
Not too many people have addressed this problem. But Shannon Moriarty, who writes about homelessness for Change.org has. And will, as my guest on News Talk Online on Paltalk.com Thursday February 19 at 5 PM New York time.
Moriarty knows the subject she writes about. She has worked in homeless shelters and service organizations in San Francisco, the Triangle region of North Carolina and currently in the greater Boston area. She is a graduate student studying housing and urban policy at Tufts University.
