The Changing Tide In Pakistan
Someone brought this up yesterday, I believe, on News Talk Online on Paltalk.com. The fact that some tribesmen in Pakistan who had been shielding the Taliban are now seeing the terrorist organization for what it is and have actually risen up in arms in challenge.
Oftentimes there is a defining moment that causes for this to happen. In this case, it was suggested, it was the bombing of a mosque by the Taliban. Imagine that. A terrorist organization that uses Islam as "justification" for its actions attacking a mosque!
It was just too much for the tribesmen to take. They clearly don't want the Taliban controlling the Bannu district.
Now, the Pakistani government is providing military support for the tribesmen. It's shelling Taliban hideouts in Pakistan's northwest.
How long this alliance between the fiercely independent tribesmen and the government will continue remains to be seen. But this clearly is indicative of a changing tide in Pakistan. And one that's shifted in the right direction.
