Netanyahu's Refusal To Budge On Settlements Impedes Peace Movement

The United States is pretty clear in its assertion that, in order for a Middle East peace process to move forward, Israel must stop building settlements on disputed West Bank lands. But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been digging in his heels on this issue. And some of the Israeli settlers are reacting to the Obama administration's proposal by attacking Palestinians and rioting.

This is absolutely unacceptable behavior and the Israeli government must, as distasteful as it may be, take steps to stop this unlawful behavior by some settlers.

Netanyahu, too, must be willing to at least discuss the issue of settlements. If Israel wants the Arabs to stop their provocation and embrace a diplomatic solution, so too must Netanyahu.
