Alec Baldwin Contemplating U.S. Senate Run

Actor Alec Baldwin is thinking about challenging Joe Lieberman (I-CT) for his U.S. Senate seat.

The politically outspoken Baldwin has previously hinted at a run for political office but this time he's talking about actual possible races he might enter. The only problem with wanting to take on Lieberman is Baldwin doesn't live in Connecticut. He lives in New York. Even he calls his political desires "all fantasy" in an interview with Playboy magazine.

But he keeps the speculation alive by noting that, presuming he's re-elected, Mike Bloomberg will, in 2013, finally be through as mayor of New York. Of course, once again, that presents a residency problem for Baldwin, who lives on Long Island.

Still, he speculates that there may be an opportunity to run for Congress there.

He also told Playboy that a politically active law firm in Ohio approached him about moving there to run for governor.

His comments are so scattered and are so short on specificity that it's hard to take Baldwin too seriously. But the fact that he keeps talking about a possible run for office makes it apparent that he's clearly thinking of moving in that direction and switching careers.

Perfect! He can take over as Ted Kennedy's replacement.

I think that Baldwin has strong beliefs and an equally strong closet full of skeletons. I'm sure that he could be an effective campaigner, but will he be taken seriously? Maybe. Ask Al Franken if it's possible.

i can't think of anyone right now in the limelight for whom the word "fatuous" so aptly applies.
