Poverty Rate Up In USA

Given the hard economic times and the obvious anecdotal evidence surrounding us all this should come as hardly a surprise but the U.S. Census Bureau reports that poverty increased in the United States last year for the first time since 2004. It's expected that this dubious trend will continue this year.

The Rev. Robert Coleman of New York's Riverside Church says the figures are not unexpected.

“We have seen the increase in the number of families who come to our food pantry each day," Coleman says.

"We have seen an increase in the number of men and women who come seeking suitable attire so they can find the few jobs available. We see an increase in the number of calls we receive each day from those about to lose their homes and interestingly enough, we now see people who have offered their help in the past, now in need our services.”

Here in Pennsylvania, the unemployment rate has reached an all time high. I've watch factories close down every year and even our charitable organizations and Government funding has been cut back or shut off like food pantries, housing assistance, and utility help. I'm watching quite a few people go without their luxuries and self sustaining needs. Worthy's Network Live on helps people to generate extra income at home either part time or as a career move.
