When President Obama accepted the Nobel Peace Prize last week he pledged to do all he can to thwart the proliferation of nuclear weapons. Indications followed that the United States and its allies were close to imposing more sanctions on Iran if that nation doesn't come clean - within weeks - on its nuclear program.
But now the Times of London is reporting that Iran is coming close as well. Close to producing a final key component that will permit it to test a nuclear bomb.
This is the kind of genie that can't be put back in the bottle once its released. So if Iran is ultimately successful in testing a nuclear bomb, it's pretty much game over with regard to holding its program in check.
