Ex-Justice Department Official Yoo Opposes Gitmo 5 Trial In Manhattan

John Yoo, author and former deputy assistant attorney general during the Bush administration, says he thinks holding the Gitmo 5 trial in Manhattan is a bad idea.

In an interview with Heather Robinson in the Huffington Post, Yoo says trying the five in civilian court "threatens this country's ability to carry out the war (on terrorism) effectively."

While with the Office of Legal Counsel at Justice, Yoo wrote an opinion concluding that the use of enhanced interrogation techniques on terrorist suspects was legally permissible.
