Move To Cut New York's Salt Intake

In New York City, the mayor has pushed, successfully, for reduction of smoking (there's no indoor smoking in public accommodations and tobacco taxes are high). Trans-fats have been reduced at restaurants and sugary drinks pulled out of schools.

Now Mayor Mike Bloomberg is taking aim at salt. The city Health Department is launching a campaign to reduce the salt intake of New Yorkers by one-fifth over five years.
