New Jersey Governor's Last Action: Sign Medical Marijuana Legislation
Jon Corzine had hoped to sign a bill legalizing gay marriage in New Jersey before leaving as the Garden State's governor next week.
That measure failed in the state legislature. But one that would permit the use of marijuana for medical purposes passed. So, Corzine, who lost in his reelection bid to Chris Christie, will at least have that measure to sign before turning the reigns of the state over to the much more conservative former U.S. Attorney for New Jersey.
If so, New Jersey will become the 14th state in the nation to legalize marijuana for medical purposes.
