New 9/11 commission - in Iran

There are people - well meaning people - who are demanding the convening of a new 9/11 commission. They argue that there are questions still left unanswered about the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

Some of their assertions can sometimes seem a bit out there. But there are, arguably, still aspects of the attacks that have never been explained to the American public. That creates doubt. And doubt fuels conspiracy theories.

Those of us who firmly believe al Qaeda was behind the attacks can be tolerant of those who don't. But one must draw the line when it comes to Iran creating a panel to investigate 9/11. A panel with the predisposition to say the United States was behind the attacks.

This is a government that openly denies the Holocaust. And lies to the world about its nuclear weapons aspirations.

Hopefully, even those who are clamoring for a new 9/11 investigation will repudiate this effort.
