IT'S TRUE. NEW JERSEY'S RED LIGHT CAMERAS ARE A RIP OFF
A New Jersey state assemblyman says a study proves what many New Jersey drivers have said all along. Many of those red light cameras are snapping and sending tickets to people who didn't break the law. That's because the lights are timed to not give drivers enough time to get through.
Many drivers I interviewed for 1010 WINS at this light at Truck Routes 1 & 9 and Sip in Jersey City say they've been "caught" - one guy says he's received four tickets!
As I stood here I saw a Mr. Softee truck enter the intersection on the green, make a slow left turn, and then the strobe light went off! So if it costs you more for a vanilla cone dipped in chocolate in Jersey City in the future, you'll know why!
