SECURITY DIRECTOR CHARGED WITH SETTING FIRES AT 2 NYC HOTELS
Security personnel are supposed to protect life and property - not put them at risk. But that's what fire marshal's say the security director at the Yotel Hotel on 10th ave did - setting five fires at this trendy establishiment. three more at the Soho Grand Hotel where he previously worked as a security guard.
Mariano Barbosa Jr of Union Citty NJ is charged with arson for the fires set in sairwells, hallways or in front of exit doors. Marshals say his motivation was to scare people away - so there's be fewer crowds - less work for him to do.
I interviewed a hotel spokesperson for 1010 WINS who says they're cooperating with the FDNY. The safety and security of guests and staff, she says, is their top priority.
More from 1010 WINS.
