SEARCH SUSPENDED FOR MISSING SAILOR OFF JERSEY COAST

Vincent Tangorra, a retired New York City bus driver from Bethpage, Long Island was motor sailing down to the Carolinas for a winter berth when his engine gave out near Ocean City, Maryland. His brother, Ray in an interview for 1010 WINS says he called and said he was going to sail back to New York. The plan to stop at ports along the Jersey Shore as he made his way, slowly, north. Last word was a text message Thursday morning, saying he was at Cape May, all was well. But his jet ski and then his boat was found adrift about nine miles off the Jersey coast. The Coast Guard says no one was on board. An extensive search by air and by sea turned up nothing. They've suspended looking for Tangorra. His family, hoping, he's in a hospital somewhere.

More from 1010 WINS.
