CELEBRATING THE 50TH AND 75TH ANNIVERSARIES OF THE WORLD'S FAIR IN QUEENS

Seventy-five years ago and 50 years ago, World's Fairs were held at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens. Today, dedication of an historical marker honoring Gilmore Clarke, designer of the iconic Unisphere. On hand, his widow, Delores. Also lots of people who were here 50 years ago. Including Lisa and Meg Smith, sisters who grew up in nearby Forest Hills, who would meet their friends "under South America" (that's where I found them, waiting for their high school friends for a reunion!). And Robert Mitz who proudly displayed his World's Fair pass he kept all these years. Mitz suggesting that a third World's Fair be brought to the park!
