WATER WATER EVERYWHERE BUT NONE TO DRINK!
They spent $75 million to renovate Governor's Island to make it a recreational paradise just a short ferry ride from Manhattan. But there's no drinking water on the island. And that has many visitors - especially those with children - angry. There's a reason: The water filtration system used by the Coast Guard when they had the island is producing water that's unsafe to drink. The trust that runs the island says it's going to cost an additional $15 million to dig a tunnel to bring water service there. That won't be done, they say, until the end of summer. Until then, you either have to bring your own water - or buy bottled water on the island.
