BEE SLAUGHTER IN A NY CITY PARK LEAVES PARENTS UPSET

Something happened in this playground at W. 92nd and Columbus that has parents, well, buzzing. Seems there was a bee hive. So some people wearing protective garb came and sprayed the hive - killing dozens of bees. Then blocked off an area of the playground with yellow tape. Parents watching their children play in the playground are concerned both about the potential health hazard of spraying - and about what they feel is the unnecessary killing of bees. The NYPD used to have a cop who was a bee expert who would safely remove unwanted bees. But he retired last week.
