DRIVER OF THIS CAB WAS MORE THAN JUST COURTEOUS
Usually taxi cabs in New York irritate me. Honking at vehicles going at the flow of traffic for not driving fast enough. Honking at cars yielding to pedestrians (what do they expect the drivers to do, run the people over?) Cutting across lanes without signaling and blocking traffic to pick up or drop off fares. So the driver of this cab deserves special mention.
I snapped this on the Brooklyn Bridge. Just moments after he stopped in traffic, got out of his cab, and picked up a cellphone that was being used to take a picture from the pedestrian walk overhead but that had dropped onto the roadway. And then tossed it up to the hapless tourist who had dropped it (it was a perfect throw, right into the guy's hands!). Then with a wave, jumped in his cab and continued driving his fare from Manhattan to Brooklyn.
Proving that even New York cabbies can be courteous if they try!
