Should felons be allowed to vote? What about carrying guns?

By Jason Brackins via Flickr

It’s difficult to understand whether this is just a clever way for conservatives to block a plan to let felons vote or if they are really interested in getting their agenda pushed. But there are those in the gun rights world who say they will support a liberal plan to let felons vote if those same ex-cons are given the right to bear arms.
It actually was once legal for felons to carry guns. It was the federal Gun Control Act of 1968 that put an end to it
Actually, felons can get their rights to bear arms back. But not everywhere. Some states allow them to own guns. That’s because in the 1980s, Congress passed another law, allowing states to permit felons to carry guns
Actually the right for convicted felons to vote also varies from state-to-state. In some states, convicts are actually allowed to vote while incarcerated. In some after release. And in some, not at all.
