Government agencies are feeding off of concerned tree-huggers and sabotaging small minds to "go green" to go along with Al Gore. Why?
No one is exactly sure but obviously there is some benefit behind this. Yes, global warming is an issue, but not one in which we blame humans entirely on. Not to say that humans have been treating our planet kindly, but we cannot say that we are all going to die in 30 years because we have been firing up our Hummer's. Nature has proven in such cases that temperatures rising and falling have been present and are continuing, such as El Nino and ice ages. Earth has its cycles and we are merely going one of the warmer ones. In short, Earth is going through a cycle, and we are contributing, all though not in a major way, though we can do something about it.nancy bas mo 3agramhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08701816461158993057noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294294294975883770.post-80045829430949050762009-03-02T15:25:00.000-05:002009-03-02T15:25:00.000-05:00COUGHjunkscience.Gordon WagnerCOUGHjunkscience.

Gordon WagnerAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294294294975883770.post-53766987447149061632009-03-02T13:12:00.000-05:002009-03-02T13:12:00.000-05:00While I do agree that the human race needs to be m...While I do agree that the human race needs to be more respectful of our home, I disagree that the cause of global warming does not matter. If this was the case, then why is it such an important issue to some environmentalists and scientists? If we are truly causing some kind of warming trend, then maybe there is something we can do to reverse it somewhat. If we are not doing something on that order, why the hell would we want to change our way of life to do something about it? Why would we need to spend trillions of dollars on a cap and trade system that will only cost the consumer more for the same amount of pollution?

Moreover, the idea that this is just a couple kooky scientists is misleading. There is a great deal of researchers who have told me personally that they is no way, right now at least, to say what has caused some of the rising temperatures. That doesn't mean that it's not us and our carbon, but rather the carbon signal in the change in temperature is just too small to resolve given our current technologies. It is quite believable, based on simple spectroscopic principles, that carbon is causing an increased absorption of IR radiation and therefore temperature due to Kirchoff's Law, but we may or may not be dealing with a 'simple' system in climate. It is very hard to tell what is happening with a good enough amount of certainty in many cases.

And even more than that, there is very little consensus on what will bring temperatures back down, or if they can even be brought back down. It would seem logical that taking carbon out of the atmosphere or slowing is rate of emission would cause such an effect, but low dimensional models have shown in the past year that similar, simpler climate systems 'remember' that the carbon was there. So you have to take a lot more carbon out of the climate system than you put in to get the reverse effect. This is known as hysteresis and is seen in a great deal of system, much less complex than climate, throughout nature.

All in all, this attitude of 'let's do something no matter what' is rather cavalier and arrogant given the amount of actual scientific information we have on how climate changes over time, especially on time scales that are no where geological. For all we know, all the temperature increases we have seen as fluctuations in a larger signal that averages out on a time scales of hundreds of years. It's very hard to tell. But to do something blindly to 'affect' this problem would be worse as is testament by the hundreds of ecological projects that our and other governments have undertaken that have hurt ecosystems more than they have helped. The Mississippi Delta is the big one that comes to my mind.

So I say it does matter because it is very easy to make something worse, even if you have good intentions.

Aaron RuryAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294294294975883770.post-82423796433281759922009-03-02T13:10:00.000-05:002009-03-02T13:10:00.000-05:00I agree with Gary as well. I am inclined to believe that it's the combination of factors..meaning caused by man as well as climate shifts. Nature is entertwined with man and I dont think anyone can argue that point. Nature affects man and man affects nature. With the population increasing so dramatically now, it makes sense to me to start working for solutions....rather than getting bogged in the politics and debate that really helps noone in the end. The global warming debate has become politicized at the expense of our ability to discern the truth. It has been used as a tool to further the moral agenda of fostering a completely unjustified contempt for humanity and its "ecological footprint."

Every species makes an impact on its ecosystem. It's wrong to wish that we made none. We should be looking for ways to ensure that our impact is positive -- not nonexistent. The biggest scam on a Global scale has to be the Global warming hoaks. Even if it were true, that human activity was the main culprit. How will a tax on carbon emissions or (Carbon Tax) do anything other then stuff the fat cats wallets with our hard earned cash?

Global warming now called Climate Change (because temps have actually been decreasing the last year) has more to do with solar cycles. This is proven by the increasing and decreasing temperatures on other planets within our galaxy experiencing similar cycles as this planet. I seriously doubt peoples SUV's are causing mars temperatures to rise. So even buying into the hoax, the carbon tax solution is a fraud.

Taxing CO2 emissions and cow farts will not change solar cycles one bit. Have people become so stupid to believe the laws of nature have changed. Plants thrive on CO2 and in return give off the badly needed oxygen the we all breath.

I suspect that fewer experiments like HAARP that bounce billions of watts of microwaves off the Ionosphere possibly causing ozone holes were curtailed. Along with severe fines levied on Corporate polluters and a halt to clearing of rain forests is a good place to start. Coupled with better/cleaner use of reusable alternative energy sources would do much more to advance a cleaner more stable environment.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294294294975883770.post-84721772410550093662009-03-02T10:46:00.000-05:002009-03-02T10:46:00.000-05:00Gary, yes! I dont see how we can make cows non-flatulant, LOL,and they contribute to our food sources. I read an article awhile back about capturing the gas that comes from cows and using it as a source of "natural gas". What happend to that? Wouldnt that reduce the gas release into the atmosphere? How do we get countries who are less concerned about enviorment (China) to stop releasing gases,etc/Also is it fair that we ask others to clean up, when we've had years of toxins dumping into the enviroment?
