What is says is a natural citizen is what the law says it is at the time you were born.

Obama is a citizen because he was born in HI. What nationality his parents were does not matter. He was born on US soil and not of diplomatic parents. Had he been born in Kenya he would not have been a citizen because the rule, when he was born, was that one parent had to be a citizen and have lived in the US for 10 years, 5 of which had to be after the age of 16. Obama's mother gave birth to him at 18. To meet the 5 year rule she would have had to be 21 when she gave birth to him at the minimum.

McCain even though he was born in Panama meets the requirement for natural born citizen because of the law at the time of his birth.

So if the Birthers prove he was born outside the US, his goose is cooked.

Roger, where did you get that piece of racist BS? A lot of white americans do not accept asian americans as real americans. Hence they will not take Janice Okubo or Dr. Chiyome Fukino's word for it. (Of course, there’s the additional issue of BHO losing American citizen status if/when he became an Indonesian citizen — that is, IF he returned and was naturalized he would be a legal citizen, but would lose both native and natural born status, and, IF he returned and was not naturalized, he would be an illegal immigrant unlawfully in this country — but we’ll leave that for another day.)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294294294975883770.post-28621770679548792862009-07-28T14:44:42.517-04:002009-07-28T14:44:42.517-04:00I couldn't have said it better Gary!!(wink win...I couldn't have said it better Gary!!(wink wink) I have thought the same thing about "The Birthers" not questioning Bushes legimate election. One document does not make the man, nor does it qualify him for any government position. At least nobody has been stupid enough (like former fellow journalist Dan Rather) to fabricate documents which could undeniably be confirmed as fake in an attempt to discredit the candidate. In this case I agree with you Gary..whiners get over it..spend your time developing the next candidate, not wasting more of my grandchildren's money filing useless law suits. Its only three and a half more years back to glory days if you can get a candidate worth his weight in goose feathers to challenge the most expensive President in the history of the United States.
