As an australian, i wouldnt venture near any of these places within a 1,000 km radius, thats commonsense. But on the other hand, locking up stray tourists on Irans border is completley unjustified by the Iranian government. It is obvious to most by now that Iran loves to have prisoners to bargain with the USA, for pychological black mail warfare. North Korea is the same. imprisoning journalists for doing human rights stories unfortunately it is so draconian in this day and age, and its all based on extreme paranoia by these 2 countries, who I have always have had no doubt that they work together because of their mutual hate of the western worlds democratic rights of freedom. In Australia, immigrants including white British & New Zealanders, who commit crimes are actually deported back to their country of origin after they are released, as for political reasons I would say that immigrants are not deported if it is proved they are in danger of being harmed if they are deported to the country they fled. Also the thing that amazes me in Australia, is how the asylum seekers coming here through Indonesia and being intercepted by our coast guards, are taken to christmas island to be processed, many of these people allegedly from Shri Lanka the tamil tigers, Iraqis and Afghanistani's and Pakistanis throw their passports and Identification over board when they see the coast guard coming, so they cannot be correctly identified as being genuine refugees, and most of them are males, they then complain there is no women of their own culture to marry here, because they treat their women so inhumanly they leave them behind when the flee. Its crazy that they even come by boat,as the Pakistani & Arab young fundamentalists come here legally through the airport with student visa's and if they complete a college trade, they can get permanent residency, but i have noticed all my life here, that non of these other cultures will assimilate with white australians, we are not racist, but we do get fed up with being treated like vermin by these immigrants because we dont look like them or follow their customs, all the separate cultures here do not mix with each other, & that is the problem with migrants, they come here for the good financial stablility here, and free medical care, they dont want to mix with the existing australians, and i find this upsetting as i enjoy other cultures, & not all Australians are drunken barbq yobbos, but i am also and outcast if i attend another cultures events, because i am a white born australian. I find it constantly difficult to listen to other cultures whinge about western culture after migrating to a western country that does embrace them, but they treat most white people like vermin, I feel bad saying this, but it is a truthful & sad fact.Tibetan Angelnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294294294975883770.post-35555421968636889412009-08-04T12:29:53.247-04:002009-08-04T12:29:53.247-04:00I vote we leave the three hikers in Iran. The difference is, the United States is recklessly lenient going against their own illegal immigration laws and the illegals realize this, and they take advantage. If an American citizen breaks the law in another country, who are we to bail them out? According to the article, the reporters admitted to their guilt. Defending the reporters is well and good and I hope it works out but being an International hypocrite is an embarrassment!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06850494423647045077noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294294294975883770.post-3943501372865868712009-08-04T10:15:56.616-04:002009-08-04T10:15:56.616-04:00Gary, speaking of Iran, if Iran’s government could...Gary, speaking of Iran, if Iran’s government could have one wish, it'd wish for the ability to overthrow democratic political systems in the world. Then, people the world over would be too terrified to acknowledge that when I hear Iran's cultists parrot the party line—that a totalitarian dictatorship is the best form of government we could possibly have—I see them not as people but as machines. The appropriate noises are coming out of their larynges, but their brains are not involved as they would be if they were thinking about how there are few certainties in life. I have counted only three: death, crackdown, and Iran’s government announcing some snooty thing every day. Let us note first of all that Iran’s government possesses no significant intellectual skills whatsoever and has no interest in erudition, progress, and human rights. Heck, they can't even spell or define "erudition, progress and human rights”, much less achieve them. I know that I'm emotional now, but if Iran’s government would abandon its name-calling and false dichotomies it would be much easier for me to encourage our spirits to soar. Iran’s government has oppressed, harassed and persecuted its own people with the harshest possible manner in the past thirty years, and this attitude is being extended indiscriminately towards the other nations. What do you expect from this inhuman entity? However, I would like to distinguish, it is the Iranian government that carries such attribution of inhumanity and backwardness while Persian (Iranian) people are soundly vice-versa. Sorry for babbling so much, but no group has done so much to twist the truth as Iran’s government idolators.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294294294975883770.post-82468342735986670012009-08-04T10:12:22.705-04:002009-08-04T10:12:22.705-04:00I agree with Gary about the diffence between "...I agree with Gary about the diffence between "Us and Them" is we do treat illegals much more humanly, and in most cases look the other way, unlike most crimes.
