Mccain the polls had them at a virtual tie when the topics were securing our borders, education and health care reform. In the final months as the economy began to decline the topic obviously was shifted to main street vs. wall street and stimulus checks, tax cuts, investment in new forms of energy which with promises of open discussion, transparency in government and financial reforms, ending the war in Iraq, closing Gitmo propelled Obama in to the oval office.
Once in office President Obama handed off the healthcare debacle to congress where it became front page news for months on end while unemployment and home foreclosures skyrocketed leaving millions of Americans asking the question"what about us".
With billions given to enormous banks who in turn gave disgustingly huge bonuses to executives along with bailouts of General Motors and Chrysler it seemed the trickle down theory was in effect. The credit card bill was a shadow of it's intent as the banking lobbyist pressured a much watered down version allowing banks to run an end game around the regulations imposed.
Americans are tired of spin, earmarks, politics as usual. The congress and president were given a mandate by the electorate and have so it appears buried their heads in the money trough.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
